Invoicing in Ecuador should not be an errand. It should be the quickest thing you do all day. That idea gave birth to Nimbus: an electronic invoicing platform that signs, sends and authorizes your documents with the SRI without you having to think about XML, certificates or waiting queues. And we did it all: from the name and the logo to the app that is now on Google Play.
The need: invoice fast and without mistakes
Anyone who issues invoices in Ecuador faces the same things every day: a strict technical schema, an electronic signature, an SRI service that is sometimes slow and a document that, if it goes wrong, has to be redone. Existing systems usually solve it well on a desktop and badly everywhere else: expensive, slow, or designed for accountants rather than for the person who invoices.
Nimbus starts from a simple premise: issuing should take seconds, from anywhere and with nothing to install. That decision shaped everything else: the product, the architecture, the brand and even the tone of the landing page.
What we built
We did not deliver "a system". We delivered a complete product, with every piece a SaaS needs to sell, operate and grow:
- A web panel for each company: clients, suppliers, products, establishments, signing certificate, reports and a dashboard with plan usage.
- All 6 SRI documents: invoice, credit note, debit note, delivery note, withholding and purchase settlement.
- A mobile app to issue and check documents from the phone, now available on Google Play.
- A public API with documentation, scoped tokens, webhooks and idempotency, to connect an ERP or an online store.
- An admin panel to operate plans, accounts, usage and auditing.
- A landing page and free tools (VAT calculator, RUC and ID validator, access key decoder) that bring traffic from people already looking to solve this problem.

Brand and design: part of the product, not decoration
An invoicing SaaS competes on trust. That is why we also designed the Nimbus identity: the logo, the orange palette, the typography, and the style of the panels, the landing page and the app. Everything speaks the same visual language, from the first visit to the website to the last document issued on the phone.
The landing page follows the same logic: a direct message ("stop wasting time invoicing, start selling"), the product in view from the first screen and a short path to the free account.

The app: invoicing from your pocket
Many people who invoice are not at a desk: they serve customers in the shop, on the street or on a visit. That is why the app is not a companion to the panel but a complete way of working: a home screen with the plan and the setup steps, a document list with filters, a detail view to share or print, period reports, clients and products.
It is built for small screens and busy hands: large actions, clear states ("Authorized", "Rejected") and the data that matters first. It is now available on Google Play.

Engineering: why you can trust it
You do not improvise with invoicing. These are the decisions that hold Nimbus up:
- Validated before signing. Every XML is checked against the official SRI schemas before it is signed, so no signature or document number is wasted on an invalid file.
- A real electronic signature (XAdES-BES) with each client's certificate. The password is never written to logs and documents are delivered only from the server, never through public links.
- A queued flow with retries: generate, sign, send and authorize run as independent jobs. If the SRI is slow or fails, the document is not lost: it is retried and reconciled.
- Multi-company with data isolation, and a dedicated database for the plans that need it.
- Thoroughly tested: more than 140 test files, with a simulated SRI for everyday work and a verification command against the real SRI test environment.
- Zero-downtime deployment: versioned images and a CI/CD pipeline that publishes without cutting the service.
- Security: two-factor login, Google sign-in, roles and permissions, and an activity log.
Results
- A platform in production, with all 6 SRI document types.
- Plans starting at free, so anyone can get started.
- An open API from the free plan, for anyone who wants to integrate it.
- A consistent brand of its own across web, landing page, documentation and app.
- A mobile app published on Google Play.
Nimbus is proof of what we do when the challenge is a product and not just a website: understand the problem, design it with judgment, build it with solid engineering and leave it running in production.
