When someone searches "lawyer in Cuenca" or "web agency in Guayaquil", Google does not show only pages: it shows a map with nearby businesses and, below, web results. Showing up there is local SEO, and for a business present in one or several cities in Ecuador it is usually the most profitable channel: whoever searches this way intends to get in touch or buy.
Local SEO rests on three things: a well-kept Google listing, a site with clear city pages and trust signals (reviews and consistent data).
1. Google Business Profile: your listing on the map
It is free and the most important piece of local SEO. To make the most of it:
- Claim and verify your listing with your business's real name.
- Choose the main category well (and secondary categories that do apply).
- Fill in everything: address or service area, hours, phone, website, description and services.
- Upload real photos of the premises, the team and your work.
- Post updates regularly.
- Keep hours up to date, including holidays.
If you do not serve from a premises but go to the customer, set up service areas instead of showing an address.
2. Reviews: the trust factor
Reviews influence ranking and, above all, whether people choose you:
- Ask for them from satisfied customers with a direct link, right after delivering the service.
- Reply to all of them, even the negative ones, calmly and without arguing.
- Do not buy or invent them: it is against the rules and can cost you the listing.
3. Consistent data (NAP)
Your name, address and phone must be identical on your site, your listing, your social networks and the directories where you appear. Small differences (an abbreviation, an old phone number) create doubt. Review your information and fix it wherever it says something different.
4. City pages on your website
If you serve several cities, a specific page for each helps rank "service + city". But there is a condition: every page must add something of its own, not be a copy with the city name swapped. Google detects it and penalizes it.
A good city page includes:
- The service and how it is delivered in that city (areas you serve, timelines, particularities).
- Local cases or projects, if you have them.
- Contact details for that area and a map, if applicable.
- Frequently asked questions specific to the place.
- Links to the main service and related content.
This is how we do it on our own pages for corporate website development in Guayaquil and for other cities in Ecuador.
5. Technical and on-page SEO
Local does not replace the basics. Your site needs:
- Titles and descriptions with the service and the city (titles and meta descriptions).
- Clear heading structure (heading guide).
- Mobile speed, because almost every local search happens from a phone (Core Web Vitals).
- Structured data for local business (
LocalBusiness) with your address, hours and phone. - A visible WhatsApp and call button.

6. Local links and mentions
Links from local sites (chambers, guilds, media, suppliers, clients) reinforce your relevance. Prioritize quality over quantity and avoid buying link packages.
Common mistakes
- An unverified listing or one with wrong categories.
- Different data on every site.
- Duplicated city pages with only the name changed.
- Neglecting or ignoring reviews.
- Showing a fake address or a virtual office to look present.
- Not measuring which searches bring calls and messages.
How to measure
- Your listing's stats: searches, views, calls, clicks to the site and to directions.
- Google Search Console: queries with a city and pages that receive clicks.
- Site analytics: conversions (form, WhatsApp, calls) per city page.
Where to start this week
- Verify and complete your Google Business Profile listing.
- Check that your name, address and phone are the same everywhere.
- Ask your last five customers for reviews.
- Create or improve the page for your main city with original content.
- Check speed and the WhatsApp button on your phone.
